Music: Ola Bergman The film Twisted Cherry is edited films from 7 different photo sessions. Young girls stumbling, falling or trying to stand up wearing sleeveless tops, miniskirts or shorts and high heels – a fetish and symbol of lust and dominance. They appear to be in a state of trance or intoxication profoundly unaware of the situation. We've seen them late at night outside bars and clubs and wonder how they're going to get home safely. I shot with the camera placed in a low position. The angle creates an expression of monumentality, which has a strengthening effect on the girls portrayed. It is a conscious act of resistance, and it brings to mind the words of Samuel Beckett: "Try again, fail again, fail better." |
